Have you ever wondered what you would do with all those decorative stitches our machines came with? Well, there are some wonderful bloggers out there that have put them to work. I was so excited to see some of these, especially using them around circles!! I’ve had several different tools to help me sew in a circle which came with my machines in the past, but using these beautiful stitches while using them wasn’t something I had thought of! Sara Snuggerud has a great article written with YouTube videos using the Bernina and the Husqvarna Viking. You can find it here, https://www.heirloomcreations.net/sewing-circles-with-decorative-stitches/
She has another one listed here https://www.heirloomcreations.net/sewtopia-sewing-club-decorative-stitches/ She talkes about different needles and stabilizers. Bernina even has a free PDF book using their Bernina Circular Embroidery Attachment. Click here to download.
Linda Mathews writes a great article on how you should set your stitch lengths, which stabilizers to use, and the correct feet to use. She uses the Janome machine so you can get another perspective. You can get her article here https://www.linda-matthews.com/tips-for-using-decorative-stitches/
Here is a listing in Pinterest for 1000 Uses for Decorative Stitches, https://www.pinterest.com/msuhsm/decorative-machine-stitches/
Mandy at Generations Quilt Patterns writes about some problems with stitching out decorative stitches. http://www.generations-quilt-patterns.com/problems-machine-quilting-with-decorative-stitches.html
Even Craftsy has a nice blog writing about decorative stitches. https://www.craftsy.com/blog/2014/05/decorative-stitches-for-quilting/
Then there is always using the Decorative Stitches when using your binding. I’ll make that another blog!
So till then,
Enjoy every day, as we love to create no matter who likes it or doesn’t, we loved making it for them!
