A Few Things to share

Today I thought I would share  a few blogs and newsletters I really enjoy.

Modern by the Yard is a new magazine out by Benartex. It is free and online. The second edition is out and has some great free patterns, You can download it onto an IPad into IBooks and save it or put it in your google doc’s.  These are only two options as it can be saved as a PDF file and dragged to any folder on your computer. On the picture I have for you, I am pointing to the download button for the PDF file. Now you can negotiate to the folder where you want the magazine to be saved.

Chris Dodsley writes a monthly newsletter Made by ChrissieD. It’s packed with tips, patterns and other pieces of information us quilters are always interested in. Her pattern for her reversible tote bag pattern, “Cool Tote,” with a detachable wallet and key ring clip, is in the second edition of Modern by the Yard Magazine, on page 18.

Annie Smith! Oh, I could write for hours about Annie! I first was introduced to her when I decided to take an online BOM class. I had never done something like this before, but I loved the pattern. She offered a monthly video chat!!! I couldn’t believe it! We would all gather around our computers and type in our questions and she would sit behind her computer and answer all of us! This sounds so primitive now with Facetime and Skype, but we were thrilled beyond limits! All our questions were answered!

Annie also has a podcast in which she interviews many award winning quilters. It’s wonderful to listen as she is filled with thread, needle, and all sorts of other information.  Annie has just started her first IQuilt class and I’ll have to say, I was one of her first students to sign up! I can’t wait to start in her applique is absolutely beautiful.  She had a new book which came out in the spring and it’s a keeper.
